This is all the stuff I’m currently carrying/using.
Photography
Canon Digital Rebel T1i (EOS 500D) This is the newest and greatest in the Canon Digital Rebel line. The far improved ergonomics far surpass all previous Canon Digital Rebels. |
Canon Speedlite 430EX II This flash brings fast recycling time in a compact, durable body. Features a guide number of 141 ft./43m at ISO 100. |
Canon PowerShot A640 Back in 2006 this was one of the only feature-rich compact cameras under $400. Nearly all the features of a Rebel in a very compact size, the A640 still serves me well when it’s not convenient to carry a DSLR. |
Canon EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 IS kit lens The newest kit lens for the Digital Rebel brings image stabilization in a light and easy to use form. You can shoot fine with this lens, but there is a lot of barrel distortion between 18mm and 24mm. I would recommend keeping between 28mm and 55mm. |
Canon EF-S 55-250mm f/4-5.6 IS kit lens This kit lens is incredibly small and light for a telephoto zoom. It can get the job done in most situations for the casual shooter. |
Canon EF 50mm f/1.4 USM With the ability to stop down to f/1.4, this lens is great for low-light situations. It’s also a great portrait lens that allows nice bokeh (background blur). |
Computers
Apple MacBook (Late 2006 MA700LL/A) Upgraded to 4GB of RAM and a 500 GB hard drive, this MacBook still does (most) everything I need it to do. |
Western Digital My Book Studio Edition II 2 TB This is my backup and scratch drive for my MacBook. With FireWire 400 (newer version has FireWire 800 and eSATA) and the ability to use either RAID 0 or RAID 1, this is one of the best drives on the market. |
Wacom Bamboo Pen and Touch While I admit I use the pen far more than I use the touch, I’ve found that between the two choices of input, the only time I touch the mouse is for Starcraft. |
Gadgets
Apple iPhone (original) I love the feel of the original iPhone, and I have a Verizon MiFi for 3G if I need it. |
Apple iPod Nano (4th gen) While I can power my phone at home, at work, and in the car, sometimes I need to make sure my phone has juice for the whole day. The iPod Nano handles all my listening needs; however, lately I’ve been using the iPhone since the 4th generation Nano cannot speed up podcasts. |
Verizon MiFi I had a Verizon USB modem, but it could only be used on one computer. The MiFi turns Verizon 3G into Wi-Fi which means up to 5 devices can use my Verizon Internet. Original iPhone, say hello to Verizon 3G Internet. |
